Blog post 5 part 2
This quarter I have learned multiple ways to connect with my future students via technology. One of these ways is Twitter. Twitter is a fantastic source where you can hashtag and connect with other educators. I use Twitter on a weekly basis to connect with my peers and ask educators some questions. Edm 310 has taught me how important PLNs are . I believe I will make a separate Facebook account for my students. I will add my students to a group and post homework assignments to the group.

Hi, I really enjoyed reading your post today. I loved what you had to say in this post. The sand box really is a great analogy to technology. I loved what you said about the sand is placed in the buckets and is not thrown. Thanks For posting, Bailey Adams EDM 310.
The first blog post i commented on was written by the lovely Angela. I truly enjoyed this blog post. Angela wrote with such though and power. The blog post was a interesting view on technology. The author related a simple sand box to the Internet and technology and the rules both have. The blog post was simple yet refined, I loved the writers style.

The child I commented on this month was a little girl named Rachel. She was assigned to do a project out of duck tape. She made s wallet and a painting from duck tape. She posted pictures of her work it was really impressive ! I posted to her "My name is Bailey Adams. I go to the University of South Alabama. I really liked reading your blog post today. I had no idea that you could build items with duck tape. Your organizer turned out really cute. Hope you have a good day."
The second kid that I commented on was an 8th grader named Pablo. Pablo wrote about his future goals. Pablo stated that he hopes he can be less shy in class and speak up more. He also wrote that he is not a fan of reading and literature. I posted :

I believe that teachers need better training
•Teachers should have to take an oral examination
•Require more schooling
•Seniority should not exist
•Promote teachers based on their accomplishments instead of seniority
•Allow only the best teachers to educate teaching majors
*enlist the top one-third of graduates as teachers
Firstly, teaching should most certainly be professionalized. Teachers have one of the most important jobs . We are trusted to shape the minds of today's youth. Teachers are held responsible for dressing and talking a certain way, yet they receive little to no respect. I believe that individuals see teaching as an easy job when really it is quite difficult to be an educator. Additionally, Joel Klein has written a fabulous article on how teachers can work on being more professionalized.
The first problem Joel Klein would like to fix is to have better academic training for future teachers. I certainly agree with Joel. I love my major, I can't imagine being anything other than a teacher. I love children and I truly enjoy observing at Corpus Christi, but I don't believe I am learning enough to prepare myself for the future. In certain classes such as EDM 310, I am learning new and exciting teaching tactics. But in other classes, I am hardly learning anything. The assignments are tedious and extremely basic. I barely have any home work, and I am EXTREMELY bored in these classes. Something should and must change.
The second problem Joel Klein would like to fix is not allowing anyone to be a teacher. Joel Believes that schools should only enlist the top one-third of graduates as teachers. I have to say that I agree with this point. In my education classes I hear many students using incorrect grammar when speaking. If these individuals can not speak properly themselves how will they teach children to speak properly. I believe that teachers should have to take an oral examination in order to become an educator.
The final problem Joel Klein lists is about seniority. Joel believes seniority is ruining the school systems. With seniority incompetent teachers are often times unable to be removed. I agree with this point.
In summary, the occupation of teaching has the ability to be professionalized if some problems are fixed. These problems are: better training for future teachers, seniority needs to be removed, and lastly more selective on who becomes an educator. I be,I've this article was well written and informative.

Blog post 13
I have though only enjoyed learning about technology in the classroom. We have spent every week so far learning about the positives of technology in the classroom. I want to take a look at both sides this week. In the sixth grade I took a typing class. This class helped me become a proficient typer but it was a struggle. The struggle I faced had to do with my classmates. They did not do there work and instead played games on the computer and got on Facebook. Technology can be a definite distraction, I have faced it first hand.
Difficulties with technology
Technology can cause technical difficulties. I used to love taking notes on my iPad. I used an app I purchased called "Goodnotes." I enjoyed using the app for the For the first few months, but over time it proved to have its problems. Every time I open the app now it crashes. This means that I am unable to use the app or read my notes I've taken over the past few months. This is definitely a problem. In the classroom I am observing the teacher often has problems with the smart board. The smart board loves to freeze up and it loves to crash. This is a major problem in the classroom. every minute counts in school, these technical errors take up way too much time. Another problem with technology is that it constantly needs to be charged. This can be problematic when a student forgets to charge their device. There are only so many outlets in the classroom. And charging tablets takes time.
Another problem that technology poses is that it can lead to distraction. My brother is im High-school and the students are allowed to use tablets in the classroom. He says that most of the students do not pay attention to the lecture but instead mess around on their tablets playing games.

t4t Summary
The teacher I was assigned this week was Angela Maires. In the first blog post I read she was discussing technology in the modern day world. Angela believes that students are not motivated by technology alone. Students need to interact with technology on different levels for it to be motivating. The type of technology we pick to use is not nearly as important as how you use it and what kind of a person it makes you grow as. Her blog post made me think about how I use technology daily. The comment I left her is this :

Blog Post 11
Brian Cosby's video "Back to the Future"
was very insightful. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Project Based Learning this semester but I wonder if there is another topic we can dive deeper into. In Brian's video he asked his student's three questions, these questions are,
What city do you live in? (9 out of 24 answered correctly)
What state do you live in? (12 out of 24 answered correctly)
What country do you live in? (3 out of 24 answered correctly)
I couldn't believe that so many students got these answers incorrect.
Brian then explained to his students that it is hard to understand anything if you don't really understand where you yourself live. This stood out to me. My family loves to travel. Whenever we go somewhere new my parents always make sure we truly grasp the history of where we are. Before we do any shopping we always check out the museums. We explore the museums and take tours of the cities so that we can truly grasp the culture. This summer we visited Spain and my parents wouldn't allow us to speak any english for the first half of the trip. I didn't really understand what they were trying to make us do, but I really enjoyed learning about the history of the country speaking the native language. So I think the students need to have a great understanding of the country and city they live in to truly learn. Brian believes in Project Based Learning. He uses wikis, blogs,and Flickr. It is important that the students are given an audience. One of the little girls blog I commented on a month ago loved that I read her blog. She wrote a comment on how she would like to hear more comments from me. I will make sure my students blog to get that large audience. Maybe I would have been more motivated in elementary school if I would have had a larger audience.
