Blog post 5 part 2
This quarter I have learned multiple ways to connect with my future students via technology. One of these ways is Twitter. Twitter is a fantastic source where you can hashtag and connect with other educators. I use Twitter on a weekly basis to connect with my peers and ask educators some questions. Edm 310 has taught me how important PLNs are . I believe I will make a separate Facebook account for my students. I will add my students to a group and post homework assignments to the group.

Hi, I really enjoyed reading your post today. I loved what you had to say in this post. The sand box really is a great analogy to technology. I loved what you said about the sand is placed in the buckets and is not thrown. Thanks For posting, Bailey Adams EDM 310.
The first blog post i commented on was written by the lovely Angela. I truly enjoyed this blog post. Angela wrote with such though and power. The blog post was a interesting view on technology. The author related a simple sand box to the Internet and technology and the rules both have. The blog post was simple yet refined, I loved the writers style.

The child I commented on this month was a little girl named Rachel. She was assigned to do a project out of duck tape. She made s wallet and a painting from duck tape. She posted pictures of her work it was really impressive ! I posted to her "My name is Bailey Adams. I go to the University of South Alabama. I really liked reading your blog post today. I had no idea that you could build items with duck tape. Your organizer turned out really cute. Hope you have a good day."
The second kid that I commented on was an 8th grader named Pablo. Pablo wrote about his future goals. Pablo stated that he hopes he can be less shy in class and speak up more. He also wrote that he is not a fan of reading and literature. I posted :

I believe that teachers need better training
•Teachers should have to take an oral examination
•Require more schooling
•Seniority should not exist
•Promote teachers based on their accomplishments instead of seniority
•Allow only the best teachers to educate teaching majors
*enlist the top one-third of graduates as teachers
Firstly, teaching should most certainly be professionalized. Teachers have one of the most important jobs . We are trusted to shape the minds of today's youth. Teachers are held responsible for dressing and talking a certain way, yet they receive little to no respect. I believe that individuals see teaching as an easy job when really it is quite difficult to be an educator. Additionally, Joel Klein has written a fabulous article on how teachers can work on being more professionalized.
The first problem Joel Klein would like to fix is to have better academic training for future teachers. I certainly agree with Joel. I love my major, I can't imagine being anything other than a teacher. I love children and I truly enjoy observing at Corpus Christi, but I don't believe I am learning enough to prepare myself for the future. In certain classes such as EDM 310, I am learning new and exciting teaching tactics. But in other classes, I am hardly learning anything. The assignments are tedious and extremely basic. I barely have any home work, and I am EXTREMELY bored in these classes. Something should and must change.
The second problem Joel Klein would like to fix is not allowing anyone to be a teacher. Joel Believes that schools should only enlist the top one-third of graduates as teachers. I have to say that I agree with this point. In my education classes I hear many students using incorrect grammar when speaking. If these individuals can not speak properly themselves how will they teach children to speak properly. I believe that teachers should have to take an oral examination in order to become an educator.
The final problem Joel Klein lists is about seniority. Joel believes seniority is ruining the school systems. With seniority incompetent teachers are often times unable to be removed. I agree with this point.
In summary, the occupation of teaching has the ability to be professionalized if some problems are fixed. These problems are: better training for future teachers, seniority needs to be removed, and lastly more selective on who becomes an educator. I be,I've this article was well written and informative.

I have though only enjoyed learning about technology in the classroom. We have spent every week so far learning about the positives of technology in the classroom. I want to take a look at both sides this week. In the sixth grade I took a typing class. This class helped me become a proficient typer but it was a struggle. The struggle I faced had to do with my classmates. They did not do there work and instead played games on the computer and got on Facebook. Technology can be a definite distraction, I have faced it first hand.
Difficulties with technology
Technology can cause technical difficulties. I used to love taking notes on my iPad. I used an app I purchased called "Goodnotes." I enjoyed using the app for the For the first few months, but over time it proved to have its problems. Every time I open the app now it crashes. This means that I am unable to use the app or read my notes I've taken over the past few months. This is definitely a problem. In the classroom I am observing the teacher often has problems with the smart board. The smart board loves to freeze up and it loves to crash. This is a major problem in the classroom. every minute counts in school, these technical errors take up way too much time. Another problem with technology is that it constantly needs to be charged. This can be problematic when a student forgets to charge their device. There are only so many outlets in the classroom. And charging tablets takes time.
Another problem that technology poses is that it can lead to distraction. My brother is im High-school and the students are allowed to use tablets in the classroom. He says that most of the students do not pay attention to the lecture but instead mess around on their tablets playing games.

The teacher I was assigned this week was Angela Maires. In the first blog post I read she was discussing technology in the modern day world. Angela believes that students are not motivated by technology alone. Students need to interact with technology on different levels for it to be motivating. The type of technology we pick to use is not nearly as important as how you use it and what kind of a person it makes you grow as. Her blog post made me think about how I use technology daily. The comment I left her is this :
I enjoyed reading your blog post today. You have an interesting view on technology. But I also agree on your approach. I do think that it's how you use the technology and not just the type of technology. The first time I used Twitter I didn't like it at all . But once I played around with it, I started to learn how to use the site. I now use Twitter every day. Thanks for posting .
Bailey Adams Edm 310
The second post I read from Angela Maires was about technology compared to a sandbox. the comment I left her was :

Brian Cosby's video "Back to the Future"
was very insightful. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Project Based Learning this semester but I wonder if there is another topic we can dive deeper into. In Brian's video he asked his student's three questions, these questions are,
What city do you live in? (9 out of 24 answered correctly)
What state do you live in? (12 out of 24 answered correctly)
What country do you live in? (3 out of 24 answered correctly)
I couldn't believe that so many students got these answers incorrect.
Brian then explained to his students that it is hard to understand anything if you don't really understand where you yourself live. This stood out to me. My family loves to travel. Whenever we go somewhere new my parents always make sure we truly grasp the history of where we are. Before we do any shopping we always check out the museums. We explore the museums and take tours of the cities so that we can truly grasp the culture. This summer we visited Spain and my parents wouldn't allow us to speak any english for the first half of the trip. I didn't really understand what they were trying to make us do, but I really enjoyed learning about the history of the country speaking the native language. So I think the students need to have a great understanding of the country and city they live in to truly learn. Brian believes in Project Based Learning. He uses wikis, blogs, and Flickr. It is important that the students are given an audience. One of the little girls blog I commented on a month ago loved that I read her blog. She wrote a comment on how she would like to hear more comments from me. I will make sure my students blog to get that large audience. Maybe I would have been more motivated in elementary school if I would have had a larger audience.

Bailey AdamsThus is my second post- Bailey Adams (Guest)October 5, 2014 at 1:30 PMHey Addison, my name is Bailey, I go to the University of South Alabama. Firstly, I love your name, it’s so pretty. Secondly, I really enjoyed reading your blog post today. I agree that schools should start showing more videos. I know that I am a visual learner. If I can see how DNA is created, then I understand it. Or, if I watch a video about the presidents, I am more likely to remember facts about each president. Thanks for posting, I will look forward to reading your posts in the future.

The children In Mrs. Cassidy's class loved blogging. In the video "Little Kids... Big Potential" the kids said that every time they blog they get better at writing. The students use Wikis in the classroom. The students also use Skype to talk to experts. I really liked how the kids got to use their nintendo Ds'. I think technology is a great addition to the classroom. I think that it could cause a problem of being distracting at times. In the "Interview with Kathy Cassidy Part 1" she discussed her experiences with using technology. She says that she always likes to add new things to her blog and loves to integrate different kinds of technology. Mrs. Cassidy said that kids love technology. Mrs. Cassidy has many points like that the world has changed. The world now revolves around technology. We are handicapping our children by not teaching them how to use technology. Class blogmister records the amount of page reads that each student's blog gets. Every teacher should know how to manipulate technology. Technology is so important in today's society and we need to keep up with what's going on in today's technology. It is important for an educator to use twitter to network and connect with other educators. In "Interview with Kathy Cassidy Part 2" and "Interview with Kathy Cassidy part 3" She expressed some great thoughts on technology like the following points. Personal learning networks are extremely important. Twitter allows students and educators to find new links and webpages. It allows us to connect with teachers who are very experienced. Facebook can be a good tool for educators. Some teachers have their students set up a separate Facebook for school. Students could reach out their teachers for help via Facebook. I could see myself creating a private Facebook group for my students and posting assignments in the group wall.

Blog Post #9
In the article, "Seven Essentials for project based learning" the seven essentials are: a need to know, a driving question, student voice and choice, 21st century skills, inquiry and innovation, feedback and revision, and publicly presented product. A teacher can activate a student's need to know content by having a project with an entry event. The beautiful thing about an entry event it that it can be almost anything. Some examples are a video, a discussion, a guest speaker, or a field trip. An important part of project based learning is to make sure you have a driving question. The driving question is one of the most important parts of PBL.
In the video, "Project based learning for teachers" I learned some valuable ideas. Project based learning is a fun tool that gets both the students and the teachers involved. This video gave some great driving questions like how can we stop the spread of the flu in our schools? Project based learning is the how. Students learn communication skills while meeting the standards. Students also learn career and life skills via PBL. PBL is questioning, investigating, sharing, and reflecting.
In, "Two Students Solve the Problem of Water Ketchup Bottles By Designing a New Cap" two students designed a better solution for ketchup caps. They brainstormed ideas for a better cap. They designed the caps on the computer, they found the cap project to be fun. They said you can't design ketchup caps in a normal class.
In the video, "What Motivates Students to Learn" multiple students answered what motivates them. One student said she wanted to feed her family and have a good house, this is what motivates her. Another student said he wanted to be a business man and in order to do this he has to get good grades. One little boy said he would be grounded if he didn't do good in school. Some students said they love it when teachers give them candy when they succeed. Another little boy said he would like notebooks from his teacher. One teacher does music Monday, she allows the students to dance around the classroom.
The next video I watched was " Wing Project: Crafting a Driving Question." This video taught me how to better draft a driving question. How can we create a better wing structure ? The teachers in this video explained that you would have to take in the dimensions. The engineers explained that wing designing has to deal with loads carried. One of the teachers said, " A good driving question sets up a process of inquiry, students are interested in, and guides them toward how they are going to do the work they will have to produce."

I thoroughly enjoyed watching " Randy's last lecture" today. Randy is a professor with a big heart who happens to have brain cancer, he starts the lecture explaining he doesn't want to talk about cancer. He says he talks about cancer enough as it is. He shows everyone that he shouldn't be pitied and Is actually in better shape than most of the population. He tells the audience about his goals as a child. The first one was to reach sub zero gravity. He eventually reached this dream.
The second dream he had was to play pro football. He didn't make it to the pros but he learned a valuable lesson in his attempt to play little league. His coach explained that once you are making mistakes and nobody tells you that you are making them, that's a problem. This basically meant to me that once you're biggest fans stop telling you that you are messing up, it means they no longer believe in you.
C4T summary
I was assigned to read ideasandthoughts.org these past few weeks. The author of this blog, Dean Shareski, is a very intelligent man. The first blog post of his i commented on was titled "Twitter as a Creative Outlet." Mr. Shareski has a very unique view about Twitter. He often uses Twitter as a way to make jokes and laugh about certain topics. He believes Twitter shouldn't be used for blogging because you can only say so much.
The second blog post I read is titled "Put the Laptop Down." In this post, David believes that the laptop shouldn't always be used in the classroom. He explains that most students have a hard time multi-tasking. He said something very interesting about how it is the teachers job to be more entertaining than the laptop or tablet, but that's not always possible. I responded with, " I agree that the laptop can be a distraction sometimes. I think that students should be encouraged to bring technology into the classroom though. Technology is such an important part in today's society, I think students should be able to access the Internet during lecture. I could definitely see times when it is appropriate to say, "alright class put the lap tops and tablets downs and let's focus on fractions."
My first comment I left is here.
Bailey Adams • 21 days ago I enjoyed reading your post. You have a unique view on Twitter and I liked picking your brain. I also believe that Twitter shouldn't be the only social media site out there. You can only say so much in 140 characters.
Post about iPhones (will edit later)
After reading the statistics about students and the use of smart phones, I was not at all surprised. Smartphones are becoming a necessity it seems like. I personally am one of the individuals who have their phone glued to them at all times. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about smart phones and elementary school students yet. My cousins are 8 and 9 and they both have iPhones. Who are they texting ? They are just so young. I do believe children should have tablets and laptops though.
In the college setting I think technology is necessary. I take all my notes on my iPad , my notes are always neatly typed and organized in an app on my tablet. I know most business classes do not allow students to bring in phones or laptops. I think this is limiting the learning potential. Our generation is constantly around tablets and phones why not let them use it at school ? I know my notes are much more through than my friends that take notes with pen and paper. My iPad even allows me to paste charts onto my notes. If there is a concept I don't understand in class, I will take a picture of the board and post that into my notes.
I think iPad and smartphone cameras could be used in school daily. I watched a video last week about something called a Popplet. A Popplet is a chart used to summarize a topic or a book. The students take photos of pictures in the book and post them on the Popplet. I will definitely use the Popplet in my classroom. Another use for the camera on a tablet would be for a scavenger hunt. You could tell the students once they get to their ideal location on the scavenger hunt to take a picture of this location. You could also use the smart phone cameras in a Spanish lesson. I could say walk around the classroom and take pictures of the following objects: papel, Mesa, something rojo. This would be a fun interactive activity to test the children's knowledge on their new Spanish vocab words.

I watched "IPad Reading center ", what happens is the student records themselves reading with an iPad. Now the student can go listen/watch his video and see if he made any errors . I think this is a great tool ! This is a tool a student can use totally by his or herself .
I watched "Poplet with Ginger Tuck" she showed us how to create Popplets. A Popplets is used with an iPad. The title of the book goes in the center. She then uses a web to create squares surrounding the center square. The children can use photos, or write a description.
This tool reminds me of a reading idea web. With a reading idea web you can organize your thoughts on writing a paper. With a Popplet, it allows students to organize what they learned from a book. I definitely will use Popplets In the future. My group and I made a rubric revolving around Popplets.
In "AVL and kindergarten Students" I learned how to navigate around a new search engine. Students can pick a word and search that word. The search engine comes back with pictures and descriptions Of this word. They can actually watch videos/audios about whatever word they search. The students take what they learned from AVL and draw a photo and write a sentence about what they learned.
Today I watched, "Mrs. Tassin Students share Board Builder Project." The students created a Website for a pet shelter. They discussed why they were collecting money for the shelter. They used the source "Word Hippo" to find new words.
When I was in elementary school, we didn't have any smart boards or IPads. So all of the tools they use on the iPad to teach children are all new to me. I really enjoy that this class is teaching me skills I will actually learn in the future. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my major and I can't wait to be a teacher! But ... Some of the classes I take are so easy, I don't believe they will truly help me in the future. Even though we do many projects in this class, it's probably my favorite class. I've gained so many new ideas about teaching with technology. I know some people are skeptical about using
technology In the classroom.. But I love it ! When I go to class I don't even bring a pencil, I do EVERYTHING on my iPad, even math.
I think the biggest pro I have on PBL is my love for technology and excitement about using it in my future classroom. I think the biggest challenge I will face with PBL is my lack of experience with using it. I plan on paying close attention to the teachers when I do my student teaching.

The first Children I was assigned to post a comment on was a 7th grader from New Zeland named Calvin. He wrote a blog post about what mascot he would pick for his country. The mascot he picked is a character known as, "Mr 4." He said that Mr. 4 was a good pick because he wore sandals and most "kiwi's" wore. The comment I posted was this:
"Calvin, I enjoyed reading your blog today. I am a college student from the United States. We also love our mascots in the United States. My mascot for school is a jaguar. I thought your idea for the next Commonwealth Games mascot was very creative. I do agree when I hear the New Zealand accent that it sounds British to me. "
The second Child I commented on is named Adam. Adam wrote about what a mathematician does. The comment I left Adam is " Hey Adam, my name is Bailey Adams. I am from the United States. I attend The University of South Alabama." I really enjoyed reading your blog today. I had no idea a mathematician had to do so much !"
The third Child I commented on is named Alex. Alex wrote about this cool new app he's using called Video Star. This is the comment I left on his blog: "Hey Alex,

In "Project Based Learning Part 1", Pbl - is constantly evolving . The goal now is that it is not a means to show that a student has achieved something, but also to get them excited about learning something .
The teacher, (Anthony lab professional) said "after a month and a half of sitting down and getting his outside work done faster he began to love his job"
he said it's a lot more than playing and interacting with the children, the goal is maximum amount of engagement so the most learning can be done.
PBL is not just a method to evaluate students, but a method by which students learn. It takes a lot of planning and work. Anthony said his student's love his projects.
Anthony said he gets his student's to create comic strips at times.
Icurio- online tool, it allows students to safely search online media that has been pulled for educational purposes. They have to log in to use it. It has a storage capacity for students and teachers. Icurio has kid friendly buttons. In the "video Discovery ed", I learned that students are "listener watchers" They listen and watch way more than they read and write according to Dr. Strange. Teachers are making more audio/ videos instead of making the children read as much. Discovery Ed offers online text books and audio books. In "Strange's tips for teachers part 1", Dr. Strange discuses 5 key tips for teachers. One of the tips is that you really need to be interested in learning about yourself. You have to constantly learn to be a better instructor. Everyone has a hobby, teachers learn the craft of teaching in their free time. Tip number two is to be creative and flexible. Tip number four is teaching is hard work. Tip number four is start with the end in mind. Tip five is to have reflection. In the video "UseTech Don'tTeachIt", I learned a lot about technology. Technology is still controversial, the questions are more important than the answers, it's a real key to project based learning . If you are a learner yourself teaching can be a very rewarding skill.

Blog post Number 5
I had never heard of the term Personal learning Networks (PLN) until this week. According to my EDM 310 instructor, Dr. Strange, A PLN is, " the set of people and tools that you can call on upon for help, consultation, collaboration or other assistance." I am looking forward to exploring and learning about sites that I can add to my Personal Learning Network. One of the best Personal Learning Networks is twitter. Twitter is a popular social media site that was created March 21, 2006. The site allows you to follow celebrities, famous athletes, authors, producers, or really anyone that has a twitter. My favorite thing about twitter is it allows you to see a more private view of someone's life. For example, Twitter allows me to follow Kim Kardashian. Without twitter I would have no clue as to what she was currently doing. This social media site allows you to use hashtags. Basically, a hashtag is something you can add to your post. For example, If I were to hashtag about writing this blog I would say, "writing a blog about PLNs #EDM310 #hardatwork." Now the cool thing about hashtags is that if anyone in the world searched the hashtag, hard at work, they would find my post.
I viewed a video called, "A 7th Grader's Personal Learning environment", in the video it discussed how a 7th grader created her PLE. I thought this video was very informative. The girl in the video discussed how she created a Personal Learning Environment for her paperless science class. I love the idea of paperless classes. I think more classes should be taught in this format. The 7th grader used Facebook on her PLE. She also used a note-taking app called Evernote. Evernote allows the user to take notes and it always saves what time you accessed the site. The time stamp on Evernote makes prevent plagiarism.
Two weeks ago I started creating my Personal Learning Environment. I have had a twitter since 2008. I tweet multiple times a week. The other day I went in and added all the Instructors for EDM 310. I now look up the hash tag EDM310 on a regular basis. I have read some wonderful stories about how EDM 310 has helped Students learn how to use the internet to do amazing things. One student thanked EDM 310 for learning how to use Imovie.

Project #4 C4T summary
I read Allanah King's blog these past two weeks. She blogs on a regular basis. I really enjoyed reading her blog. The first blog post I commented on was titled "Google Educator #alwayslearning" her blog was short and sweet it discussed what she had to go through to get her google educator teaching license. I'm highly interested in doing this myself. The response i left her was:
"I really enjoyed reading your blog today. I think it is awesome that you have received your google educator’s degree. I will have to look more into this google educator stuff. I love the tutorials. I am a visual learner so a video tutorial helps me immensely. A video tutorial is so much simpler for me. I agree with your statement about it’s nice when a system updates their website but is also frustrated. I personally get annoyed because even though the new system is better, I was so accustomed to the old site. "
The next blog post of hers I read was titled "Mawhera Taniwha- Google drawings and Google slides " this blog post gave an explanation oh how to post a picture on top of another picture on google. It also taught how to create simple animations! I will totally be doing this in my classroom I think it will be a big hit. My response was :
"Hey Allanah, thanks so much for sharing this! I am someone how needs visual images or a video to truly learn. With this being said, I was really impressed by your photo explanations. I was easily able to edit my photos and put a photo over them ! Thanks again, I will definitely use this explanation in the future to help my future classroom."
Project #15
Today I was asked to research eight different search engines and voice my opinion on each one.
WolframAlfa
WolframAlfa was a search engine that I have never come across before. After doing some investigating of the site I discovered that I can plug in mathematical calculations into it and will be given the answer. The answer is also displayed on a number line. This could be helpful when trying to teach a visual learner mathematics.
Bing
Bing is a search engine that reminded me very much of Google. It does basically everything Google will do. I can search "cats" and find lots of information about these pets including photos and videos. I actually have used Bing before but I prefer to use Google. I personally think Google is more organized than Bing.
Yummly
I have never heard of this search engine before but it has me very intrigued! The search engine is all about searching for foods. I looked up "cake" and I was given a multifarious amount of recipes. The recipes included serving sizes and nutrition facts. I downloaded the Yummly app today and was impressed by all of the positive comments. I found a fabulous recipe on tomato sauce that I am excited to try.
Monster
Monster is a search engine I have heard about before. It is useful if you are trying to find a job. You search the type of job you would like to have and you can upload your resume.
WebMD
I love the WebMD search engine! I despise going to the doctor so I'm all about a site that will diagnose what I might have. I use it by typing in the symptoms that I am currently having and it will give me a list of possible illnesses that I may have.
MapQuest
MapQuest is a site that you can type an address into and it will give you directions and show you images of the place. I used MapQuest yesterday to get to Tuscaloosa and I will use it tomorrow to get back to Mobile.
Zillow
Zillow is a search engine that would be perfect for someone trying to buy a house. It shows houses for sale and gives an estimate on the price. The search engine also shows you how big the house is.

Blog Post 4
Asking questions is an important tool for a teacher to posses. Asking open-ended questions leads a student to answer with more thought. When asked who was the first president of the United States students will reply " George Washington." But if you ask a student an open ended question such as, "explain the course of events that led to George Washington to become the first president" the student will have to use their critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills go above and beyond just answering yes or no. This is why asking these sorts of questions is important to ask our students at such a young age. I'm currently doing my observation hours at Corpus Christi Catholic School. The teacher I am watching asks questions constantly and she receives great responses from her students.
In Johnson's post "The Right Way to Ask Questions in The Classroom" He makes some intresting observations about asking questions. One of my favorite quotes from the article is, The fallacy with this thinking is that sometimes the students do not understand that they do not understand, and if they do not know what they do not know, there is no way that they can ask a question about it." Johnson is basically saying here that a student may not even know they are not understanding a concept sometimes. Until the student is asked a question that makes themself actually apply the new concept, they really don't know if they are fully understanding." I know in my math class that he teaches us a new lesson daily. When he starts asking questions is when I actually can test myself and check that I know the material. Student's rarely ask questions in a classroom becauase they are terrified of public speaking or fear they will be teased.
I enjoyed reading Weimer's article, "Three Ways to Ask Better Questions in The Classroom." This article was short and to the point. It summarized three differnt processes an educator can go about imporving thier quesitons. These points included: prepare questions, play with questions, preserve good quesitons. This article was written in an easy to read list formation. These techniques demostrated by the author will help teach children the importance of asking questions.

I enjoyed watching the videos and reading the materials about peer editing.
I personally think peer editing is a fantastic idea. I don't always have the best grammar in my writing. I normally am able to spell the words correctly but when it comes to commas, I can sometimes be a tad off. After writing a paper, I always send my papers to my wonderful peer and friend, Kelsey Herring. Kelsey always helps give me constructive criticism on how I can improve my writing. In the video, "Peer Editing" I think the points were clearly outlined on how to effectively write a peer review. The tip that really stuck out to me in the video was the message about staying positive. I have a hard time being 100% sweet and nice when peer editing. So by simply starting with a positive point I think my message can go a lot further.
The slide show, "Peer Edit With Perfection Tutorial", displayed some great ideas on how I can stay positive. I will definitely use the example sentences to help my peers in the future. I really do love when someone I know gives me harsh criticism, but if a stranger gave me harsh criticism, I think I would feel differently. I believe peer criticism will help us as future educators.
The video, "Writing Peer Review Top Ten Mistakes", was so cute . I loved how all the mistakes had a name like "Picky Patty."

1.)
In the short video "Mr. Dance a lot ", I believe the central idea was trying to depict how students should not be taught in a classroom. The instructor read directly from the power points, this can be tedious and it's not the best way to teach. The teacher remained behind the desk during the lesson. He tried to demonstrate the dance moves but the students did not have a clear view of the instructors feet. When teaching the instructor should always make sure his students can view his lesson. The author makes the conclusion that this is not the best way to teach by showing the students confused responses. Many students grumbled and ground that, " this was the worst class they've ever had." I agree with the author's conclusion, The students negative responses proved that they were uninterested and struggled learning the dance moves. Overall, I think this video gave great insight on why it is so important to be a passionate educator.2.)
I think Roberts believes that teaching the 21st century, is centered around the use of technology.
When I was in elementary school, I were taught from the chalkboard. In middle school I was taught by dry erase boards and overhead projectors. During high school and college I have been taught via Smart Boards. Basically, technology is always changing and growing. It is our duty as future educators to learn how to use the newest technology. It Is wrong not to teach our future students valuable tools just because we are unable to evolve with technology. The internet is a fantastic source for students to learn and expand on current events. Roberts believes that today's students should be well informed with current events and I couldn't agree more. I believe that technology is growing at a rapid pace and because I am a future educator, I must keep up with it. My favorite line from the presentation was, "teachers are not the main source of knowledge anymore, we are the filter." It is our job as educators to teach children the ways to use the internet. By not teaching the proper way to use current technology we are preventing students from reaching their full potential. I personally believe technology is a fascinating tool. For example, right now I am typing this paragraph on my iPad while listening to classical music on Pandora.
3.)
In the video, the networked student, it discusses a different type of learning. The student in the video explored a wide variety of sources and was able to listen to lectures taught by some of the best teachers in the world. Although this technology was impressive I still believe the student was most likely taught to use these sources by their teacher. The question, " does the student even need a teacher " really made me ponder. Students can't just rely on The internet. They need outside help if they are confused. Also the personal interaction with a mature adult helps build character and people skills.
4.)
I believe Davis' thesis is that students should also be teachers. I personally agree with this statement. You shouldn't have to hold a student's hand through everything they learn . Doing this can actually create a negative outcome. For example, the teacher isn't always going to be there to give their help and advice. I know in my online classes, I have many thoughts and questions about the material but I figure them out myself because the teacher is not around. I believe being a self learner and a self teacher is a more mature way of learning.

5.) In Dr. Strange's video, the topic of discussion was an education race. The runner involved are: undergraduate students, graduate students, and elementary school students. I personally believe that learning shouldn't really be a race. What is important is learning valuable skills, it is not how fast you learn them that matters. If I did have to pick a race winner though, I would have to give it to the elementary school students hands down. The kids I babysit are eight and they can do so much more on a computer than I can. The two year-old I know can effectively use an ipad. Children are learning how to use technology at younger ages, and it is fantastic.
6.)
I actually have heard of flipping the classroom before. I think the concept is not a good idea. In nurisng school we watched online lectures from home sometimes, and it was so boring! Lectures are boring enough for the most part. And when you have to watch them at home after school in your bed, they only make you want to fall asleep even more. I think it is not a good teaching aproach becuase the student might have quesitons he or she needs answered right there and then.

With the article "Bringing coaching into the classroom" I belive it is trying to say you don't
Have to be the perfect teacher. You need to be a teacher that is passionate and encouraging. I'd you belive in your students then your students are more likely to belive in you. I thought the message this article had was very insightful.

I have heard a variety of comments about the course, EDM 310. I hear that EDM 310 is a course that requires an extensive amount of time and commitment. I also have heard multifarious rumors that EDM 310 is the hardest class you will take as an education major. Even though I have heard many nasty rumors about EDM 310, I have also heard it is a class that teaches future educators valuable skills about technology. I have numerous fears about this course. Firstly, I am frightened about the weekly work load. Secondly, I am scared my limited knowledge of technology will not be enough. So far, EDM 310 reminds me of some of the classes I have taken in nursing school. Both types of classes require multiple hours of work each week.
The most difficult hurdle I believe I will face in EDM 310 will most likely be learning how to use the smart board. The best way I can address this obstacle will be by viewing interactive videos on YouTube. I am a very hands on learner, and I enjoy teaching myself. My question about EDM 310 is what is the best way to succeed in this course? The ways I can uncover the answer to this question is by reading other student's blogs from past classes.

Practice Blog
Hello, my name is Bailey Elizabeth Adams. I have lived in Birmingham, Alabama for most of my life. My entire family resides in Hoover, Alabama. I love Hoover, I believe it has such a nice charm to it. I have lived in the South my entire life and I absolutely love it. In my free time I like to do Pilates and travel. Traveling is probably the activity I am most passionate about. There is just something so exciting about traveling to an entirely different part of the world. I love Europe, it is filled with such a unique culture and extraordinary architecture. The reason I chose to go to USA was because I liked the size of the university. I am very close with my family, I have two parents that have been married for over thirty- seven years. My siblings are close to myself in age, we normally get along.
I think an educator in today's society should be patient and courteous. I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Growing up I had some learning disabilities that I struggled with. Now I have a very easy time with school for the most part. I would like to help others learn, and I believe I will have a more patient attitude than most teachers due to the challenges I overcame. There is just something so special about being able to help someone. Below is a photo of my brother and I in Sevilla, Spain. In my free time I am trying to learn Spanish. Something interesting about myself is that I've had my first name legally changed.
Outline for practice blog
1.)Talk about where I have lived, what I like to do. Talk about how I like to do Pilates and how traveling is a passion of mine.
2.) Discuss the reason I chose to go to South Alabama instead of a larger school closer to home.
3.) discuss my family situation, I have two siblings.
4.) Discuss what I think an educator should be. Discuss why I wanted to become a teacher.
5.) Include a photo of my travels, discuss that I would like to become better at learning Spanish.
